flameo
Hello! So, I have Bio and Chem at HL and Physics at SL (all three sciences are required for medicine in India).Since summer is coming up, I want to get started on my IA final drafts... but the problem is, we haven't done a single Biology one yet! We've done the experiments, but each lab report is ONLY 200 words... My teacher is HORRIBLE, so I really want to know what exactly I can do to improve my Biology IAs. Can I have an example one? I have no one to help me, my school is very, VERY small. Also, I would like to know how I can improve my Chem HL and Physics SL IAs. how would I go about improving them and is it possible to finish all of them before September of this year?Thank you so much! Yahooo!
If you become a VIP you can see all the lab reports on the file section for all 3 Sciences, amongst other subjects. Reply
Erasmusrasmus
I can't help you with any samples but I'm sure you can find some on the net! I know for chemistry lab reports my teacher recommended the Chemistry (HL/SL): Student Guide for Internal Assessment (http://www.osc-ib.com/ib-revision-guides/default.asp?categoryid=49&pageid=793&bookid=105&book=Chemistry-%28HL/SL%29:-Student-Guide-for-Internal-Assessment) so far I've found it quite helpful! Other things to look for in the great interwebs are IA rubrics and or checklists such as the official IB rubrics, I found some here: https://sites.google.com/site/ibbiologyinternalassessmentbtn/ib-ia-information/ibbiology-iacriteria and other non-official IB rubrics (which are also helpful) such as: http://i-biology.net/ia/assessment-rubrics/ You can find these quite easily if you just search them ^^.Hmm.. a tip on getting points: make sure you have the "basics" all there and that they are all correct (e.g. name the graphs, name the tables...). I think some of these criteria are subject specific so you should do as the checklists say! Another pointer, the language doesn't have to be extremely well-written and formal as long as you have what you need. For example, in the evaluation part I managed to get full points by just stating a problem, why its important, stating why it occurred & why it caused something to go wrong, and how to fix it for next time! In the conclusion just basically say what you can conclude (durrr) and refer to some data!Wall of text here but I hope it somewhat helps ^^ Good luck fellow IBer! lilianna009
PM me your mail, I can send you some materials/templates I used among others when writing my Bio IAs. You can also go through Assessment Criteria in Biology Guide and if you can check out Biology Study Guide for IAs by OSC. Reply
