CAS period

There's some confusion at my school, as it's our first year doing it. Is the CAS period from the summer before IB1 to Spring of IB2? or is it from September IB1 to April IB2?

CAS period?

You have to do CAS proactively throughout the 2 years of the IB. According to the official rules (I say official because some schools choose not to indulge in them and choose to run their own versions of CAS by allowing ludicrous activities to be completed in the name of CAS), you cannot count any activities before the IB actually starts so the summer before IB does not count. You can reduce your CAS activities, or you used to be able to, during the second year as your workload increases.

Well it kind of depends on your IB coordinator, originally in my school we were allowed to start the summer before IB diploma years, but now they changed it to september, which kind of sucks... you have to clear it with your CAS coordinator.

alright, thanks. So if we start the summer before sept (this summer), IB won't care about it?

We were allowed to count what we did the summer between pre-DP and first year of IB. Then it ended in March.

We're also allowed to start counting CAS hours in the summer before IB starts.
