Deeyor
Not to ridicule/criticize anyone's post, but half of the words supposedly "misspelled" seem to be based upon jeuveniles' error (meaning errors that are typical for middle/primary schoolers). For example I have yet to see a highschooler misspell: "heighth for "height" or "helpfull for helpful". Also there are multitudes posts lament over conventional errors: "your for you're". Oh by the way "Asheee" you can not be serious with your post...a name is a domain, not a word. Edited December 12, 2009 by Deeyor Reply
Austin Glau
for Spanish papers, i's and e's in voliebol, meriecoles, ect.@DeeyorThe point of this thread is to share with others words that we find difficult to spell so it hopefully will not happen in written material for IB or class grades like essays.Avident:We all misspell some words, so it's good for us (bearing in mind our English marks) to finally learn to spell them correctly. So although you may have not encounter a highschooler misspell "hieghth" for "height" or "helpfull" for "helpful," that doesn't mean there is not any 'highschooler' out there that cannot. For those who are already aware with the common misspellings, they shouldn't have much trouble on their written material when it comes to spelling. And some misspellings, or conventional errors, may in fact be 'juvenile.' But their are people out there who could recognize misspellings and errors like the posts above from this thread and use that knowledge so they do not get marked down for grammatical or spelling errors in written materials. AtouchofSoul
People rely on spell check so much that when they're writing, their spelling is atrocious. We had a mini bonus question on a quiz my freshman year to spell the word "Wednesday"--11 people in a 35 person class spelled it correctly. Deeply embarrassing...
