Andante
Hey guys!As you probably know, we (first examinations 2014) are doomed to come up with a topic for our mathematical investigation (or IA or sth like that) on our own, which (I believe) is quite hard, especially as the topic should rather be pure mathematics. Any maths magazines, books, websites where some ideas for research can be found? Of course I won't be trying to prove Riemann hypothesis but I bet no one is going to come up with 2+2 style problems either.Could you also clear up for me the idea of this entire mathematical investigation? Maybe I am wrong and it should be rather applied maths (like creating a model or sth)? Our teacher didn't give us much information about it.So, could you help me?Thanks! macrofire
Sure. Take a look at previous Math EEs. Now downsize the scope of the investigation. Voilà!If you can't think of a topic, then here's a guideline on how to brainstorm:1) think of the worst topics possible2) refine them3) repeat 1 and 2 to get a list of ideas4) if you still can't think of any, round up some friends and repeat 1 and 25) when in doubt, always refer to 1...and then 2 3 Reply
