C[sub]s[/sub] = Q/AΔT Can someone explain to me what the above formula (from Topic 8 of the Physics data booklet of 2009 and beyond) means? I take A to mean area and ΔT to mean the time passed, but can't really sort out Q and Cs in my head. Also, when calculating the area of a solar panel in radiation terms, my teacher said that the net area is multiplied by the cosine of the angle that the panel is placed at to find the "effective" area of the solar panel. Why is it necessary to multiply the area with the cosine of the angle? Last thing - are there any more solar power-related formulae that I should know about? Thanks (:

My friends and I have gotten signatures of all the IB students at our school who want to take Physics SL and the total number is 15. My principal won't allow a class of this size as he says the Non-IB, Academic, students need the teacher more as they have class sizes of 30+ because of the increasing amount of Gr.9 students at my school. How do we convice our principal that a Physics SL class is needed? As it is for many students in IB as they need Physics to go into Engineering. Do you have any other suggestions as to how we could get a Physics SL credit? Some students, this year, are taking physics in a normal class and then studying the IB material for the exam in t…

My school's topic is on how to make our school "greener". So my group four project is about testing different types of insulation for like buildings. My group decided on it and we never learned about thermal dynamics yet in physics; however, we have a some knowledge about it. We decided to test materials such as newspaper and like sawdust. (need some more insulaiton ideas) We came up with a plan of making a box with insulation on the inside and measuring the temperature or something. I'm sorry that its not descriptive , but I don't really know what my grouped planned. So could you guys help me? Any suggestion or ideas for our project would be greatly appreciated. Thank yo…

I'm the only one in my Physics class, and let's just say that my lab reports aren't exactly top notch. So basically, if I just make 2 great reports, would that work or would the school have to send all my labs of mostly 2s (out of 3) to the IB since I'm the only one? Lab work counts for 25% if I'm not wrong. Thanks!
