Sunny.P
Hi everyone.is anyone doing the title "patterns within systems of linear equations"? Reply
IBFearless
Could you give us more information on the question please? Either scan the question paper and attach it, or type up the question so that we have a better idea of what you're asking us, and so that we know how to help you. Gibran Sheikh
Could you give us more information on the question please? Either scan the question paper and attach it, or type up the question so that we have a better idea of what you're asking us, and so that we know how to help you.im doing the same thing. The first question is examine the constants in the first equation and then in the second equatioon, and discribe any patterns you see. the equarions are:x+2y=3 and 2x-y=-4The second question is Solve the above system. What is the significance of the solution?i think for the first question the pattern is that for the first equation the numbers increase by on, and in the second equation the numbers decrease by three. but im really not sure.i hope you can help me. Jose
Hi im doing the same thing and i dont realy know were to start if someone could give me a hint Reply
lois lee
hey guys, does anyone have the sheet? coz i have lost mine, or does anyone know what website i can download it from? ta Reply
suejessie
hi. I am also doing that IA now. and I have hard time proving the conjecture.Does anyone can help me though?? Reply
WaTlvr
heyI'm doing the same thing. What I'm proving is that for equations that goesax+(a+1)y=a+2bx+(b-3)y=b-6the solution is always (-1,2)it works. But I'm stuck at next one: extend the research to 3x3 system. 1 Reply
russ3l
please help me im stuck with the proving part! how did you do it? Reply
vivek shah
Even i am stuck on the 3x3 investigation of part A. How do you make a conjecture and how do i have to prove my following patterns for 2x2 part? Reply
The Fox...
Hint:x(a+d)+y(a+2d)=a+3d orx(a+d)+y(a+2d)+z(a+3d)=a+4d 2 Reply
IBSUCKS
Quick question.I am doing the same IA and I have a question about part A second bullet where it says Display your solution graphically. What is the significance of the solution?SO what is the significance of the solution? Reply
tdubthebassist
Hint:x(a+d)+y(a+2d)=a+3d orx(a+d)+y(a+2d)+z(a+3d)=a+4dbetter to doax + (a+d)y = a + 2dless terms...You will see the significance later once you solve the question. (on your x and y... WHAT'S LEFT?) Reply
Bishup
Hey I just received this coursework today. I started and did the first task I got the same trend as some one mentioned. I was wondering if there was someone out there who hasn't yet handed theirs in. It's kind of nerve wrecking, only 10 days to do it. Obviously plenty of time but still Reply
alise
Quick question.I am doing the same IA and I have a question about part A second bullet where it says Display your solution graphically. What is the significance of the solution?SO what is the significance of the solution?yeah, I don't know if I can just ignore this point. Because the significance can be seen only later when compared to similar systems. But there is no significance to the solution itself... 1 Reply
Miszy
I have done almost all but I am still wondering what graphical patterns am I supposed to find in PART B… Anybody? @alise: I think you're right Reply
The Jackal
I have a question about part B. I have found out that all the equations written in the form ux+ury=ur^2 are tangents of curve x=-1/4y^2. Does the task have something to do with that, because I am not sure how to set up a general 2x2 system that incorporates this pattern. Maulik
i am also doing the same portfolio and i wanted to ask how you guys solve 3 x 3 in part A because i am stuck there. Reply
alise
i am also doing the same portfolio and i wanted to ask how you guys solve 3 x 3 in part A because i am stuck there. One method is Gauss' elimination method. I'm sure you can find it in wikipedia or anywhere else! Reply
Bishup
How did you guys prove the 3x3 and the 2x2 in Part B? Reply
IBpanda
According to the post date, I guess most of you guys must have done the porfolio already. any help? really stuck on proving the conjecture. of 2x2(part a) Edited May 14, 2010 by IBpanda Reply
