Some people got the VIP just from posting good and helpful posts.As for the notes, its basically making notes of a certain topic like Differentation in math and uploading it so that whoever needs help calculus can downlaod it. At 100 posts (with no spam) you got VIP automatically, but the admin can grant you that beforehand, if they see that you are contributing to the forum in a meaningful way. Or if you obtain your friends' permission to post their old IA'S (again, only if they have already graduated from the IB), you can contribute them.
