maturk
Hello I just read the IB guide for the Math HL IA and it says "A well-organized exploration includes an introduction, has a rationale (which includes explaining why this topic was chosen, describes the aim of the exploration and has a conclusion." Where does the rationale go? Is a introduction that states why the topic was chosen not enough? Thanks 1 Reply
thecsstudent
The rationale goes in the introduction I think. It is part of it. 1 Reply

kw0573
introduction explains what you are going to talk about and the flow of the document. Rationale not only explains why you are going to talk about your topic, but also an opportunity to clarify potential weak points in the IA so they can appear stronger. The rationale is a place basically to "explain yourself". All this should be done subtlely. The intro and the rationale are definitely very connected, and it's your choice how to structure them 3 Reply
Yugalarex
I guess you could say it's RATIONALE to put it at the beginning. But anyhow - I merged the intro and rationale. Reply
