Cbauwens
I am writing my first Biology IA and I am not sure if my question is good enough or too elementary? How does change in temperature affect bean plants' rate of photosynthesis? Please help! Reply
sameera95
Your title must contain your independent variable, which in this case is temperature, and must state the 5 changes in the independent variable: so your 5 temperatures that you will be using in this experiment. Also, you need the units of measurement of your dependent variable, which is photosynthesis. How exactly are you measuring this? Is it volume of O2 given off or number of bubbles or what? Lastly, use the latin name of the plant you're using in this experiment, it makes it sound much more sophisticated So your title will look like this: "How does changing temperature (type 5 values of temperature here) affect the rate of photosynthesis (type measurement e.g. bubbles per minute) of Latin name. -- latin name is usually the genus species, the genus name with a capital and the species name lower case. Also latin names have to be in italics. Here's the marking criteria for biology IA: (Sorry if the pictures are huge! ) 1 Reply
citizenoftheuniverse
According to my understanding, you DO NOT need to put the changes to the independent variable IN THE TITLE (or question). At least at our school, we had a separate section where we further defined the changes to the independent variable and all the other stuff with variables, I think it's weird to list it in the title itself. Having the Latin name, however, in the title is definitely smart and still sounds good and not cluttered. Reply
