Changing Ab Initio Language after already learning one

Recommended Posts

i personally feel you should just stick with Chinese now

It's really hard catching up, esp. on Language B

Some of my friends do Chinese and they are finding it much easier than French

But, if you are have legit difficulties, you should consider changing it

I recommend talking to your IB coordinator or teachers for advice

It's fair enough that you can't memorise Chinese characters - languages like Japanese and Chinese do take you out of that comfort zone and provide something extra to learn. Did you learn any French or anything at GCSE? However I hear that French Ab Initio is fairly easy. You could change - you just need to be extra sure to catch up the notes. Join the class ASAP if you are going to, and ask for the notes to copy up - borrow someone's book or something, and copy it that night and get it back to them. Then maybe ask the teacher if they'll do a couple of after school sessions a week to help catch you up. You probably could catch up what you've missed now, but only if you work hard - people did it in my school a bit. As long as you're willing to put in the catch up work, French Ab Initio will probably work out as easier for you in the long run - just act quick.
