You must state:

-Question: focued and nonambiguous

-Hypothesis: address it and give it a logical rational

-Variables: make sure to list the dependent, independent, and controlled variables. Be as spedific as you can!

If you want, you can add a diagram of the lab setup if it's particularly complicated and you feel that a diagrame would help illustrate what you're trying to say. You can also add a picture of the actual lab setup once you carry out the experiment.

Materials and Methods: list materials, noting measurements (e.g. instead of 'beaker' use '400mL beaker'). Write your methods in numbered, list form. Try to have five trials of your experiment if possible - the IB likes that.

Show:

-Your raw data

-Your processed data along with any graphs

-A sample calculation if you used any mathematics (e.g. averaging or finding standard deviation).

-A conclusion: this should

discuss the results of your experiment. Start by addressing whether your data seems to

support or refute your hypothesis. This should be discussed and not just stated.

Specifically refer to your graphs to give support to this discussion. Avoid the use of the word "prove" because your data won't prove anything.

State the limitation of your investigation (how well your experimental design worked).

And then note some improvements to the lab that could be done in order to make it work better.

Happy Labbing!!
