hanniexx
do we have to refer directly to the text studied in our answers?i mean do we have to actually quote in English A2 SL ?'cause i saw an essay that scored 29 without a single quote, so can someone please clarify?thanks! You should quote to be able to help you get a high mark in the marking band C 'literary features.' Quoting helps support your point, and also helps you in marking band A 'knowledge and understanding of text'. You can rephrase sometimes, but you should have some quotes in there, it's safer.I'm not sure what essay you saw - the marks of paper 2 are out of 25! PositiveVibes
It's not crucial you use direct quotes as long as you demonstrate good knowledge of the works and use specific examples... like refering to it or explainging symbols in detail. Quotes are only useful if they actually relate to what you're saying, don't do it just to do it. 1 Reply
