Abu
How about: 'One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich' by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn? (wow I spelt that correctly in my first shot) Reply
DeStijl
Although this is more or less along the same lines as One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, how about Survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi? Reply
ibislife
These are good examples, and I personally really like One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. However, I would advice you to ask your teacher before bringing up more fictious (but still realist first-hand accounts, of course,) literature into your essay. Ruan Chun Xian
You want 'real' accounts, not fictionous novels right? Prison diary (獄中日記) by Ho Chi Minh? Written in Hanyu originally which might or might not help with the comparison of your Chinese account. You can search for it on the internet and get some poems though probably not the whole set. Then again...they're a set of poems so it might be a bit hard to compare? Reply
