PLEASE!!! Math IA SL : Modeling Climate

My aim for my math exploration is to find a US capital city whose climate matches Kyoto, Japan. I am only looking at the temperature aspect of the climate.

I manage to narrowed down my data and now I am trying to find the equation to fit my data. I know that I am using sinusoidal modeling to find it, but I want to use the sine regression to get those models. However, I don't know if IB will give me less marks because of that.

I have to find 6 models since I am doing the maximum and the minimum avarage temperaturesfor each city.  I find this would make my paper extra long, and the equations would not be as accurate to compare and get an accuarate conclusion for my aim.

If someone can give some advice on how I should go about this I would really appreciate it!! :)
