Jane97
Hello everyone! I am having problems with choosing the topic for my Math HL exploration. I am interested in architecture. And was thinking about:1. multidisciplinary design optimization2. geometry in architecture and building3. harmonious spatial forms4. secular aestheticsor any other theme in that area. Could you give me an advise on that matter? Reply
kw0573
The name "exploration" is quite misleading. For many people exploration means to google on a topic then write a report on it but what IB wants is almost an essay: with some (few) original thoughts/approaches or creative thinking, with of course a foundation in discovering and applying new concepts. With that in mind, you should narrow each idea you have to a specific one. I am not allowed to give specific examples pertaining to your interests but brainstorm at least 2 fields of math (eg geometry, differential/integral calculus, differential equations, infinite series etc) each topic involves, any theorems (triangle inequality, mean-value theorem, fundamental theorem of calc, etc) and an estimate of new math (if any) you will have to learn. 1 Reply
