IBstudents
Hey guys, my teacher is expecting us to find a topic for our IAs. My idea is to investigate osmosis rate of Eggshell membrane. Basically, I will put a raw egg into vinegar so the egg shell itself will dissolve and then put the raw egg into sucrose solutions with different concentrations. I talked to my teacher today (he's pretty strict and expects a lot) and he said that my idea basically sucks because I can't calculate the osmotic pressure and the osmosis rate will also be hard to measure. My other idea is using Edolea plants and investigate their rate photosynthesis and changing factors like light intensity or different colours of light. When I told my teacher however, he said that this topic is desperate and that I am not desperate. Another point he made is that there will be a lot of these kind of reports and that I won't be able to make them as good as the others if the examiners compare. Does anyone know other topics for IAs that are possible? Edited April 16, 2015 by IBstudents Reply
susanne
enzymes, photosynthesis, plant growth, anything related to bacteria, factors affecting diffusion (everyone loves that, I freaking hated it), human exercise etc.etc.' If all else fails, stick with enzymes (like catalase and hydrogen peroxide) Reply
DuffsterCole
Do your schools allow you to culture bacteria (i.e on a Petri dish)? Cause mine doesn't, and I don't know if it's an IB thing or just my school. Reply

Ask your local uni and see if they can help in some ways Reply
