weheartit
Hey,what is the word count for the rationale for the written assignment (creative written assignment)? On some places they say it is 150, other 150-250.. is that something to do with the changes for 2015? Reply

ibprincess
for sl I think its 150-200 words but you should check the subject guide for clarification character based languages have higher word counts though Reply
Vioh
Hey,what is the word count for the rationale for the written assignment (creative written assignment)? On some places they say it is 150, other 150-250.. is that something to do with the changes for 2015? I assume that you are talking about language B (group 2)? If that is the case then you can check out the rules here: https://ibpublishing.ibo.org/live-exist/rest/app/pub.xql?doc=d_2_ablan_gui_1102_2_e&part=3&chapter=4 It says: "Students are required to complete a written assignment that is produced under supervised conditions in the classroom and is assessed externally. The word limit for the written assignment at SL is 300–400 words, plus a 100-word rationale, and at HL is 500–600 words, plus a 150-word rationale." 2 Reply
rainbowunicorn
Vioh is correct, I did my WA last year and we had a 100 word rationale (SL) so the HLs should have a 150 word one. Reply
rainbowunicorn
Adding on, I think the other word counts might be for paper 2:At SL it's 250-400 And HL:Section A 250–400 wordsSection B 150-250 wordsThe 200-300 word rationale might be from the older curriculum.Ab initio languages also have a 200-300 word WA but that's the whole thing and there's no rationale. But if this WA is the same one I wrote in my language B it's 100 for SL and 150 for HL. That's first exams 2013. For some odd reason, there's a first exams 2015 for Language B. According to that guide, (found here: http://www.tacoma.k12.wa.us/foss/IB%20Guides/IB-LanguageBGuide2015.pdf) For SL: Inter-textual reading followed by a written task of 300–400 words plus a 150–200 word rationale, based on the core. For HL: Creative writing of 500–600 words plus a 150–250 word rationale, based on one or both of the literary texts read 5 Reply

I never thought that the syllabus is updated that early as the IBO usually updates its syllabus after 7 years. Really weird! But yeah, it seems to be 150 - 250 word for HL after all Reply
King112
English A require 200-300 rationalehttp://www.thinkib.net/englishalanglit/page/2536/written-tasks is the source I checked There didnt seem to be a different source for English B, so i assume it would be 200 words or so?Not sure, but English A is correct Reply
