OMGIBISFUN
I currently have English Literature HL as my Language A1, and my first language as B language HL. I was just wondering if there is an amount of prescribed or required hours for the course. Being fluent in the language, the acquired language course is rather pointless for me right now, and I was wondering if I could do it with less lessons than the 4/week I have now. Thanks! sameera95
Why don't you take both languages as A languages rather than B since you're fluent in both? Or choose a new foreign language; the point of a B language is to enhance your skills in a foreign language (you're taking the easy way out ). In my school we have 5 lessons a week for HL subjects and 3 lessons a week for SL Edited January 30, 2014 by sameera95 Reply
OMGIBISFUN
I'm already taking a 3rd B Language at SL + a 4th one as a certificate and a 5th one as an extracurricular. Reply
emmapatregnani
I'd take both languages at HL. The IB requires you to have a total of 240 hours for all higher levels. It would be a waste of time to spend four hours a week on a useless class. However if you are struggling with other subjects stay in the language B course, this way you have a guaranteed 7.
