pedsm
Hello everyone, I was thinking on doing my Math SL exploration with something related to Waves or Acoustic, however I cannot quite find one good objective to work with, I searched for some physics Lab reports however I could not find anything useful yet. If anyone had a objective so I can base my exploration I would be very thankful. Reply
maroctam
A former student at our school wrote his EE in physics about guitar string harmonics. I'm not sure what he did exactly but I know he used the Fourier transform extensively. If you're interested (or even if you're not), here's a cool video you could watch as an introduction: http://youtu.be/u1Lz8pm2npQ.But this is way beyond the requirements of the Math IA, as it's not an extended essay and we're not required to do research on a completely knew topic.Do you take physics and have you studied waves yet?If you have, it might be useful to go through your physics book and pick something that particularly interests you and narrow down from there. Here's the teacher support material that might be helpful: http://xmltwo.ibo.org/publications/DP/Group5/d_5_matsl_tsm_1205_1/html/content/exist/rest/app/tsm.xql@doc=d_5_matsl_tsm_1205_1_e&part=2&chapter=2.html 1 Reply

Thanks for the help. Reply
