IB-student 2013
Hello, How many essays are we supposed to write for history paper 2 and history paper 3? And are we allowed to choose any of the questions, even though they are from the same topic? Good luck everyone Reply

alefal
Hey there! Two essays for paper 2, and three for paper 3. On paper 3, you can choose any question you want, but on paper 2, you'll have to choose one question from a different category. You'll have 5 (?) categories with six questions each to choose from. Good luck! Reply
IB-student 2013
Thanks . Will the categories be mentioned, or am I supposed to differentiate them? alefal
Yes, the different categories are written in bold letters. Haven't you done (or seen) any past papers? Reply
IB-student 2013
We did some old paper 3 exams. But I don't think we have done any paper 2, as this is my first time knowing about the categories Reply
TykeDragon
Paper 3s used to have no headings, but they do now (as of last year). Paper 2 will have 5 clear categories with 6 questions each (if you go back as far as 2009 though it has 6 categories with 5 questions each) Reply
alefal
Okay, well, paper 2 isn't a hard exam as long as you know history and know how to write the essays. I suggest you search for "IB History past papers" on Google and find some past papers, just to get the feeling of the format (we're not allowed to upload them to this forum). Some categories might have changed names or removed altogether, but the general format is similar to the old exams as well. The new thing is that P3 also have some sort of categories. You don't have to worry about the categories in P3, though. Reply
