Cellular Respiration and Gaseous Exchange

How on earth are you supposed to measure respiration rate if you can't use any of the possible dependent variables?

If you can get your hands on Elodea plants then I'd suggest putting them in a measuring cylinder overnight in a dark room and measuring the volume of CO2 produced.

If you have yeast then you can measure the presence of CO2 in the mixture by adding an indicator to it and seeing how long it takes to go from blue to colorless.

If you're using some type of insect then I suggest measuring CO2 levels with a probe.

Other than those, I can't see any other way of measuring respiration levels using only school equipment.
