SATMadness
I am considering doing chemistry HL or Physics HL at the moment.Just wanted to ask about the difference in workload, because I heard a lot about how physics HL take a LOT more time than chemistry. Drake Glau
The workload is the same for both. Lab hours are the same, IAs are the same, the exams are the same (format...)They both take tons of practice. HL Chem takes more practice than HL physics in my opinion simply because the Chem book has a whole 10ish equations, total, and you have to memorize the rest of them where physics has a giant booklet of them. Understanding the physics terms/relations might be a bit more challenging and harder to put together though since you will have to be able to relate equations instead of just ideas. Describing something using equations can be more difficult than using your own words Reply
thebrownindianguy
I take BOTH chemistry HL and Physics HL ... Trust me chemistry is harder. If the terms mole , organic chemistry , tribromoethanebenzoate scare you , dont do it ... take something like biology HL instead ... its pretty easy ! i take 3 sciences at HL so feel free to shoot some questions @ me Reply
iHubble
Chemistry HL is definitely harder. (Don't mind my signature, I went through all the HL stuff but did SL) Reply
j-mims
I do both, and trust me HL Chem is much worse.... it is the bane of my existence! I find the physics is less work (though is still A LOT of work) but once you have the concepts and definitions, you are fine. Chem on the other hand requires a lot of concepts, rope learning, definition and work, so for me I find it quite a bit harder. But in the end it's up to you... What do you enjoy most? Would you rather go through 2 years of physics or 2 years of chem? Reply
ChocolateDrop
It really depends on you. Whether Chemistry or Physics come more naturally to you and which one interests you. Edited October 20, 2012 by ChocolateDrop Reply
