What are the pros of studying in Canada rather than UK?

What do canadian unis need other than a certain grade?

'The United Nations has ranked Canada as one of the best places in the world to live in. It has been considered as the ideal destination for quality studies. This assessment is based upon Canada's achievements in terms of educational attainment, life expectancy, national income and general quality of life. It also included Canada's abundance of fresh water, comfortable population density, low incidence of violent crime and a health care system that is a model for the world.

Canada's education system is excellent and ranks among the best in the world. Moreover its tuition fees are among the lowest in English-speaking countries. Canada boasts a wide range of quality educational institutions for both degrees and diplomas in technical and professional disciplines. International students who have graduated from a Canadian university or college have the opportunity to work in Canada for up to one year after they receive their degree or diploma. International students can work on campus without a work permit. Plans are being made to allow international students to work off-campus, too.

For over a century, Canada's two official languages (English and French) have been taught as second languages that is why we are world leaders in language training. International students often choose to take language courses before beginning a regular academic program.

As an international applicant you can benefit yourself if you are studying in any of the Canadian Institution. It is a multicultural country with a high standard of living. There simply is no better place for your professional and personal development!'

'Degrees from Canadian institutes are internationally recognised, and there is a diverse range of courses on offer from marine biology through to accountancy. Canada also has a number of excellent opportunities for language courses, and you can choose between both French and English as your main language of instruction, and students often benefit from taking an additional language course alongside their main degree or diploma.

Canada is a very safe, stable country and has an excellent health care system, and the educational and living costs are relatively low compared to other English speaking countries, so this is an ideal place for international students to come and enhance their learning.'

According to my research, 'Successful completion of the equivalent of a Canadian secondary school academic program with strong marks. Proof of strong proficiency in English (or French if studies in French). Students may be required to provide proof of language proficiency by way of a language proficiency test (For example TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB). Generally, Francophone universities require international students to complete their own test of French proficiency. Some institutions have other forms of English or French language assessment; they may offer their own language proficiency test or, may admit students to academic programs on the basis of having successfully completed that institution's language program.'

I found all of this online in about 5 minutes, it's really not hard.

I am planning to take a gap year in British Columbia and then hopefully going on to study at UBC. My main reasons are the reputation of the school (as stated above), but also because the nature and the mindset of the people there. BC is English speaking as well, which is a pro and on a side note, Twinkies are still produced in Canada.
