I want to make a website, probably using Microsoft frontpage, unlessy you suggest a much easier free programme to download.

I want to include professional assets such as :

- a commenting page on the website

- a rating thing where people can rate photos and the top rated ones appear first

- a programme that prevents people from stealing the photographs

PLEASE help!

You could just use WordPress. You'll probably find a plugin that can do the 2/3 of the things you mentioned. Otherwise you could put something together if you have some experience with PHP or another language.

- a programme that prevents people from stealing the photographs

That is impossible, short of not displaying the photos at all. It can also be very frustrating for users so don't even bother.

Well see, Wordpress has 2 options.

The free version doesn't allow a lot of plugins anyway. So I suggest you shell out the money and go for the pro version. It can do EVERYTHING you've said and more.

I don't know if you're simply trolling or not, but WordPress is free and open source, meaning you can do whatever the hell you want with it.

Can people view my website later on if i use word press and don't host the site?

I'm not sure what you mean. Any site will need hosting.

This rating / commenting stuff requires PHP (HyperText Preprocessor), you might be able to find a WordPress plugin to do this, but it's definitely not HTML. You 'can' make images non-copy-able, but that requires quite a bit of work, you can serve the image from within a dynamic cascading-style-sheet and have it show with a data:image/ base64 encrypted string. As to other programs: you could try Adobe Muse, or Xara for drag-n-drop webpages that are fully compatible in Chrome and IE.

WordPress comes as a .zip file, you need to either upload the whole zip file over to your host's web-ftp panel, or via FileZilla, and unpackage it on the server, or, unpackage it on your computer, and upload all the files to the server in one go via FileZilla, though this almost always causes problems.

To open .zip files, Windows (and Mac) can do this, but if you need some advanced functionality - go ahead and download WinZip - it basically has a free trial that runs forever.

As to your earlier questions, yeah - WordPress is Open Source, and you can do whatever you want with it. Though, for others to see it, you definitely do need it to be hosted. :)

And even then, a screenshot and crop will make your image into a mere copy in less than a minute. In reality, there is no way at all.

Guess the only partial remedy is to watermark everything. I've seen "anti-theft" before, I just wish I remembered where I found the code
