Physics Lab - SHM

My physics teacher gave us the aim of the experiment and it was " To show that the time period of a simple pendulum is irrespective of the mass " . This is a DCP and CE lab. Is this topic good? Can we ask her to change it? Or will we be analysed solely based on our DCP and CE and not the aim?

You're exactly right, you'll just be marked on the DCP and CE component of the IA, and not the actual experimental design, however you may talk about that in your discussion, e.g. what component of the experiment design led to random and/or systematic error in your results.

Sorry, but what are DCP and CE?

DCP stands for data collection and processing. Here you'll be assessed on how well you've measured your data, interpreted it (made a graph, etc), and performed any necessary calculations. CE stands for conclusion and evaluation, so you'll be assessed on how well you've discussed limitations and possible sources of errors.

Here's a rubric that tells you everything you need to do for these sections: http://web.acsalaska.net/~dbrabec/ib_physics/IB_Physics_Internal_Assessment.pdf

I know it says for SL physics, but the HL and SL rubrics are the exact same.
