Victorique
I was reading a sample essay on schema theory, and a sentence said : " One example of a behaviour that schemas can influence is memory encoding and retrieval. " Can someone please explain to me how/why memory is a behavior? Edited June 10, 2012 by Victorique Reply
Gaby
It sounds like something a student might write while they're in the hurry, though it sounds okay to me if you're focusing on schema theory (why does it sound so much like my most recent in-class essay...), but in general, memory is a cognitive process. I'm not quite sure if you can call it a behaviour per se. 1 Reply
blindpet
My understanding of behavior in IB psychology is that behavior pretty much includes everything and anything that human beings can do physically and psychologically. Memory is definitely a behavior but I understand your confusion. I'm not sure if the syllabus defines behavior anywhere actually... 2 Reply
gotti
I would think of memory as more of a cognitive process than a behaviour. Although memory can affect behaviour, I don't know if it's actually classified as a behaviour. Reply
sarah95
My psych teacher told me that IB considers cognitive processes as examples of behaviour. Edited January 1, 2013 by sarah95 1 Reply
IBchicken
I would rather say that memory is a cognitive behavior Reply
