I would suggest you first try to seek help with your IA's before giving up, you know 'when there is a will there is a way'! If you really believe that changing is going to benefit you as a whole, then go for it! Be warned though, if you do change your subject, you will need to put a lot of time and effort on catching up with the rest of the class in good time.

I'm sincerely sorry to hear that and I wish much patience for you. Back to topic, if changing is what you believe is best for you, don't hesitate at all. Go and speak to your coordinator, he/she will understand your circumstance and will be able to help you.

Don't stress too much over the essay, because what matters most in the end is not school nor university, but the friendships and memories you make along the way.
