dubyawhy
I have had some people tell me it's basically an AS-Level in maths, while Maths HL is A2.I have had some people tell me it's halfway between AS-Level in maths, while Maths HL is A2 + AS Further Maths.I have had some people tell me it's approximately more or less an A2 in Maths, while Maths HL is A2 + Further Maths. So which of these approximations are closest to correct, guys? Or are none of them close enough? I need to know, because LSE is being ambiguous with its IB requirements, and basically require an A2 in Maths for this one degree, and I don't know if Maths SL will suffice. Also, a side question: Is Maths Studies basically GCSE level then? dessskris
I'm pretty sure I heard Maths HL is more difficult than A Level Maths, but I heard that 2 years ago so my memory is a bit dull and I might remember wrongly. Reply
ecieee
Yep I think I heard same thing. HL seems to be harder than A2 maths for A level. Reply
carpediem
According to my maths teacher, Maths Studies is the equivalent to GCSE, Maths SL is slightly more than AS-Level, and Maths HL is more than a Maths A-Level.Not sure about the equivalent to Further Maths SL, however... Arrowhead
The easiest way to find out is by University standards. What are University Maths offers for A-Levels and the corresponding IB equivalents? Whether their approximations are truly equal or not is besides the point. So LSE equates an A* in A-Level Maths and equates that to a 7 in IB Maths HL. So basically if we go downwards, an A in A-Level would be a 6 in IB HL Maths, a B is 5, a C is 4 and so on. Reply
