hellwo
I did the question on the MDGs as well, only got to talk about two of them but had lots of case studies and population theories. Reply
supercool <3
It actually took me a long time to think of 3 fossil fuels... gasoline, crude oil and coal is what I wrote...I also did the soil degradation essay and I thought it went pretty well although I thought the statement was really bold. to say that it is the most serious issue is kind of pushing it Reply
dajaji
I concentrated on goals of envionrmentsl sustainability, increasing the status of women and reducing poverty. it sounds like you had the right idea Hehe I hope so! Did you include any sketch map/graph or any diagram in your answer? I drew a little map but I'm not sure I was supposed to... I really want to know my grade!!No I didnt because I pretty much said what I wanted to say in writing. But I guess I could have used a diagram to emphasize the case studies I used. Oh well, whatever it's done gotta do Chem now, which is goin to be the death of me I did the paper 3 question on core and periphery only cause i really liked part a to that question and when i got onto part b i realised that i wasn't quite sure what they wanted from me, so i was mainly babbling on about trade and trade blocks and job opportunities and making the world smaller by trade and i spoke a bit about glocalisation - i honestly don't even know what i was thinking... let's hope for a 4 hahaha Reply

Max Power
i thought paper 1 was hard, but paper 2 was okay and paper 3 was weird. did anyone take geo HL? what did you think of paper 3? I chose question 3 on "homogenisation of cultures"...Paper 3 was the hardest one in Geo. I wrote about the core and periphery, which was number 1 I think. I really did underestimate it thinking that globalization essay will he really easy. Still think I did good though. Actually I don't even know because it may turn out that my ideas may be all wrong!!!Did anyone else write about the importance of the relationship between core and periphery? What did you write about?but i found paper 2 more difficult than paper 3...probably because we did different optional themes for paper 2, some of the questions in paper 2 were really trickyi still remembered question 1b in paper 3 was kind of like "examine the relative importance of different financial flows that connect the global core areas and peripheral areas", which is actually related to "examine the importance of loans, debt repayment, development aid, remittances, foreign direct investment and repatriation of profits in the transfer of capital between the developed core areas and the peripheries" in the syllabusin other words, i think if you have talked about how loans (from world bank, IMF, WTO), remittances (from migrant workers), foreign direct investment (from TNCs), etc. connect the core and the peripheries, then you will do fine Reply
gkong
Oh man I'm so worried. I'm predicted 7 but I only realised halfway through my Section B essay that I was going completely off topic. Somehow misread it so I thought it was asking for causes of soil degradation (I had 10 minutes left to bring it back to the topic but I'm worried about how many marks I lost I did question 7....That and I bet I lost the 1 mark questions in part A " I always manage to lose them LOL.On the other hand paper 2 went very well in fact. Hopefully that can pull me back up. :|Worried I might get a 5 ish on paper 1.I did soil degradation as well --> Spoke a lot about the need for food, however its equally as severe as other e-challengesPaper 2 - Hazards & Disasters, Oceans, Food & Health Reply
Alex1307
Paper 2 - Hazards & Disasters, Oceans, Food & HealthHow did you find Food and Health? I really didn't get the first question about TNCs so I picked the disease one! Reply
gkong
Paper 2 - Hazards & Disasters, Oceans, Food & HealthHow did you find Food and Health? I really didn't get the first question about TNCs so I picked the disease one!I did the TNC question just because I like the essay question. Disease was alright; I knew many people in my class would have done the disease one as we focussed a lot on discussing prevention strategies for malaria and AIDS. Sap
I panicked so much during both papers cause it turned out that my geo teach didnt know about the changes in the paper and syllabus for 2011 and only taught me the older stuff, i only found out when i started the exam some stuff was similar but some stuff i didnt learn about and had to just use common sense. i at least answered everything so i hope it goes alright Oh man really?!?! That's terrible!! I'm sure it will be okay in the end, just do really good on Chem/bio/physics coming up Hello! I will be doing the same paper next year. It would be great if you tell me how many main questions there were. And which part of core they were from. Thanks! Reply
