Julia
I've been having a hard time coming up with a question for my IA. I'm thinking of doing "To what extent did the removal of the 'Four Olds' in China have on the rise of equality in women?" or something like that. Is my question too broad or is it ok? Keel
Oh what happened to the restoration question? I thought that was quite good! Reply
Julia
I liked that one too but I feel like it might be hard to write about 2 different restorations in only 2,000 words Reply
Keel
Well you could focus on one aspect eg economics, political, social ect. and as for primary sources you could actually analyse the Meiji Restoration itself! But anyways, yes that question is very focused. My only concern would be that it would be hard to find specific evidence where it directly increased the equality of women as most of it was masked by Mao's political ambitions (even though Jiang Qing did play a significant role it didnt really mean equality for women). NavyBratt
Excuse my ignorance, but what are the 'four olds'? Reply
Julia
The Four Olds were old customs, old culture, old habits, and old ideas that Mao wanted to get rid of. And thanks, Keel, I think I'm going to choose the other question and do that. Reply
