Hardrock
For me, the most difficult one was probably functions. And I'm also finding rates of change to be pretty challengingThe easiest one is definitely matrices/vectors! Reply
rowanBae
vectors the hardest Reply
n0urhan
Easiest for me is probably vectors too I find statistics and probability pretty easy tooMost Difficult: probably integration...I'm so good at it yet I need to practice! IB-Adam
We've only done 40% of the sylabus so this only a tentative answer Hardest: Combinations, logarithm, and drawing the reciprocal of a certain graph Easiest: functions, matrices, vectors, complex numbers, polynomials, Reply
Keel
I would have to agree with n0urhan, definately probability and statistics being the easiest and intergration being the hardest - have you seen those questions in the Intergration 3 section of the Oxford Press IB HL Book?!?! nametaken
I'm in the same boat as Adam. I'd definitely have to agree. Polynomials are soooooo easy, functions and matrices as well. We haven't done complex numbers, so I don't know. The Statistics topic is easy but just boring! Reply
darthtire
Easy : Errything Hard: Errything it all depends on your willingness to learn Reply
nicro_hat
Easiest: Probably differentiation. It's fairly straight forward, although it might get a bit unwieldy.Hardest: Vectors. I hate it with a fiery passion. Also applied to engineering next year. Reply
fan
Core topics not a problemThese option topics I find rather hard:Power Series, Taylor and Maclaurin Series Reply
Sike
I'm only in HL-1, but so far points, lines, and places has been the hardest topic for me to comprehend. But it was still enjoyable, interesting, and not too much of challenge. As for the easiest topic... i'm not sure, probably the pre-cal and probably areas. adletaY
Easy: Complex Numbers, Matrices and Vectors (moderately), Differential Calculus (taught it to myself but we are doing it next year)Hard: Number Theory. Probably the hardest topic in all HL maths. Just had an exam on it today and . . . Permutations and Combinations were difficult for me last year so I'm assuming I will find all of Probability and Statistics difficult. Reply

mvosicky
im finishing IB2 and hl math is probably the most significant and dominant of my subjects, since we have it 5 times a week and i really need a good grade for it easiest: i dont dare say anything - they can even rape you with functions or trig on papers 1 and 2 hardest: 3D vectors and planes (!), differential equations, and all options probably - we're doing stats (the easiest one) and im strugglinghave fun everybody with HL math !! adletaY
When do we do number theory in HL math? Or is that your option? It's just in the Discrete Maths Option and is about half of the content in that course, the rest is Graph Theory, which my teacher says is easier. Hahahahaha. Veeeery True!! It's the subject I give the most time and effort but it seems to give me the least in return!!! As a matter of fact my level seems to be dropping! I got a 7 in the beginning of last year, a 6 throughout the rest of the year and with my last exam I got a 5 (a low one )Everything in IB is hard, but at least with the other subjects, when you put effort it pays off!!!I hate the IB for making me hate my favorite subject Reply
Zacrates
We haven't started vectors-I find complex numbers quite difficult-I think Trigonometry is the easiest Reply
