2 cos x - 5 sin x = k cos (x+b)

2 cos x - 5 sin x = k (cos x.cos b - sin x.sin b)

2 cos x - 5 sin x = k cos b.cos x - k sin b.sin x

Compare the coefficient of sin x

- 5 = - k sin b

5 = k sin b

Compare the coefficient of cos x

2 = k cos b

Do substitution to solve for k and b. Find the values by yourself ok :P

EDIT: I made a mistake above, re-check my working please. thanks
