Guest yonoid
Hi,I'm thinking of taking my French SL IB exam this year. I'm already registered and all, but I'm having second thoughts.I currently have 3 SLs and 3 HLs. Next year French would become HL making it 2 and 4.What would happen if I were to take it this year rather than next? Would it benefit me or making things harder? I think I can still opt out...I hope. Reply

spaceisland
I'm in the same situation writing my Bio SL exam this year... I'm happy to have only 5 exams next year. Reply
Guest tomat
If you feel comfortable with it, I say go for it. Not a lot of people do it, or so I've heard. But then again we're all different and I don't see why you shouldn't do it if you indeed feel ready too. It will also be a good experience for next year when the real "deal" begins. I think you might end up feeling a bit relieved that you've "been through it" and know how to preform when it really matters. Good luck! sushitai
You don't have anything to lose. If you don't like your score, you can always reflect on what you need to improve and get a better score the second time. Reply

If you don't like your score, you can always reflect on what you need to improve and get a better score the second time. What do you mean you can re-do it!!! I'm taking the Calc HL test, though i took the class 2 years ago, and the Physics HL test this junior year, but no one told me i could retake it next year! Does this apply to ALL schools? or it's up to the school to choose? Reply

ezex
do you the math HL course? what's Calc HL? you can retake any subject anytime you like Oh i was talking about the Math HL, sorry, but the thing is that no one ever told us anything about these things in our school, apperently another thing that our school did to cover up a way to help us. Thanks for telling me about this though. Oh and now that we're at it, is it also allowed to take IB tests before 11th? I was told that i could take the IB Calculus class in 9th grade but they made me wait until this year to take the test, is that how the IB program is set up? ~Lc~
ok, I think since you're in the states your school is treating IB exams like the APs or SATs where you can take them when ever you want. The IB is a course you start at the beginning of 11th grade, and finish at the end of 12th grade (or what is equivilant to that wher ever you live) usually. You take 6 subjects, and give exams on all six at once at the end of the 12th grade (either in May or November (if u live in Australia). you can take 1 subject prematurley (i.e give an exam in youer first year), but the majority should be done in year 12. I don't really know how they've split it all up for you guys there but if u get your diploma in the end good for you Reply

Since I'm taking Calculus IV now, the IB test for math is obviously easy for me, but it would've been a heck of a lot easier to take it 2 years ago. Well thanks for the info on tests though Reply

spaceisland
Well like I said, I'm in my second year of SL Bio, and I am taking the exam this May... The only thing that I find causes problems, is that we don't have all of the back-up knowledge from Chemistry and what not that would probably help us, if that makes sense. I suppose that wouldn't apply to Maths though... Also, I'm a little bit worried because our course ends in two weeks, and then we are independent study until exams.
