For the sentence: they are losing.... would it be ils sont perdent or ils perdent? can anyone explain which one is correct and why? Bishup Posted March 7, 2010 Report Share Posted March 7, 2010 In french there is no such thing as the Gerund like in english there is no verb + ing unless it is used a connectiong word. Like bla bla bla, knowing that. French equivalent would be bla bla bla, sachant que. They are losing would be simply : 'Ils perdent' or if you want to stress the fact they are losing right now. 'Ils sont en train de perdre'. Learn the 'en train' it is very useful, it replaces the english 'ing' Reply Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
