Sandwich
It's a good idea to think of a theme first. Why not pick out a principal theme in every novel and see if there are two you can relate to each other? For instance if one novel is a comment on society, which other novels comment on society? Or if no other novels do that, just move on and contrast for another theme until you find one you like. Reply
rrswong
Yup, I agree that picking a theme would be important, because then you know what to look out for when you're writing your essay.. also, look at the criteria for this essay piece and see how your theme or the books can fulfil the criteria - mostly A to C. Tilia
I assume you're talking about the WL. As y ou should know, we cannot come up with topics for you, but we can comment on suggestions. Didn't some common theme occur to you while reading these books? When I read my WL books, I found my topic very soon. As Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights are both written by female authors during the same time (if i recall correctly), there are several themes to compare in them, such as rebellious women (but Idon't think that's very original). What occurs to me is that both Wuthering Heights and The Metamorphosis have supernatural things, which could be interesting to compare. I haven't read A Doll's House (but I intend to do, if I just can get hold of it in Norwegian), so I can't help you there. But think of what the books have in common and what would make a good topic. Also, if it's a WL, keep it NARROW! Reply
