Jakebert
You know how in Paper 2 & 3 "raises historiographical issues" is a requirement to get a 7? Is it like that in the Historical Inquiry too? Do you need a question based off historiography like "why do historians disagree on X"? Reply
Vvi
Well, you need to mention historians' viewpoints somewhere in your investigation. I had conflicting viewpoints on Hitler's motives for invading Russia, and contrasted them, pointing out weaknesses in each argument and then picked the strongest one for my conclusion. Do you have a topic that has no historians' viewpoints on it whatsoever? If your topic is so recent/obscure that it doesn't, I would try to mention differing points of view even in a general sense. For example, if your HI was on the Rwandan genocide (which it could be, seeing as it happened 15 years ago), I would mention something like "According to the UN..." or "The US government's stance on...". That shows that you are considering different viewpoints, even if they aren't historians. Edited March 31, 2009 by Vvi Reply
