Ruan Chun Xian
Well personal appeal is one thing - he was really a good public speaker, you have to admit that. With that he managed to rouse people's interest and convince people with his speeches. But there were undoubtedly other factors - Great Depression, Treaty of Versailles and all those post-WWI stuff. He was a good speaker but he also spoke in the right time and said the right stuff. That's the general gist of it. Reply
Jakebert
He was pretty much a last resort. Every other Chancellor that Hindenburg appointed either failed miserably or pissed people off. So it was either Hitler or a revolt. And all that stuff that Ruan said as well - Great Depression and stuff. That helped. Reply
JMR
We also need to remember the division of the left and their incapability of co-operating, eventually not gaining much from elections.. Reply
