SharkSpider
Hey, just wondering how History IA footnotes are supposed to look. My teacher said "you're wrong" when I asked her if I was right, but she didn't seem willing to show me an example or even attempt to explain why I was wrong. Anyways, just a quick example for books/websites and I should be able to get back to work. Thanks in advance! Reply
Vvi
First, ask your teacher which style she wants the footnotes in. Most schools have a preferred one that they want used for all subjects. The IB doesn't care, as long as it's used worldwide. There are 4 different ways to do footnotes, all of which have rules for where commas, periods and italics go. http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html For the Chicago Manual of Style. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/557/01/ For MLA style. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/02/ For APA style. http://www.libs.uga.edu/ref/turabian.html For Turabian style. An easier way is to go to http://citationmachine.net/ , which doe it for you when you feed it the information. It does MLA, Turabian, Chicago and APA styles. Or http://citationcenter.net/ctool.php5 , which does all styles except Chicago. Reply
