In general you've given us very few details, so it's impossible to answer your question without making at least a few assumptions. Please elaborate on what you mean by damping effect of a spring? A spring in perfect conditions has no damping properties whatsoever. Are you going to use an external damper or do you mean energy dissipation within the spring system?
