Canda USA Uk - dilemma

Hey,

This question is addressed mainly to those who live in the States or who know the us market well. Firstly,I have to admit that the truth is that my biggest dream is studying in the USA at northwestern, Vanderbilt,Chicago or any top university. But being more realistic, I guess that my parents won't be able to pay for so many years of studies. So I came up with an idea of doing the bachelor degree in the Uk or Canada and after that, to move to the United States.

My first question is, if it is Is possible to do the bachelor in England and after that graduate from the us uni (master degree)?

And the second question- is it reasonable to study in Canada, having in mind that I want to go for the master degree to an American uni? How do the Americans see Canadian universities?

Sorry, if smth isn't clear -ask. I'm writing from my old phone what makes it really painful :P

I can't answer all of your questions (I am not particularly experienced with US higher education), but I can answer this one. A lot of people do their bachelors in the UK and masters in the US, and the other way round, so it's absolutely 100% possible.

Thank you for the answer. I thought so but couldn't find any exact information about it. And do you think that it's a good idea to do so? I mean changing countries to study from the uk to the us? Isn't it hard to change the uk system of studies for the us one?

I don't see why it would be a particularly bad idea. From what I see, you're from Poland, so you're already going to be changing the system in which you study. You should ask yourself, though, what appeals to you more: the specialised from day one UK approach or the freedom to decide during your degree what your major will be (US style). And the money issues, obviously. It will also be more difficult to stay in the US after you graduate than in the UK. I've exactly zero idea about Canada.

Also bear in mind you might not want to do masters in the end. I someone asked me 5-6 years ago, I would have said that I'd totally be doing masters, cause that's the culture I grew up in, with every adult I know having masters. In the UK/US, masters is not that common, it's more of a step into academia/highly specialised degree than a standard step for most. At the moment, I completely can't see myself doing masters.

what you said about masters degree is quite interesting. But as you already mentioned, living in Poland means the tradition of doing masters. I will do it not to let my family laugh at me for being worse educated than them :P

I'm thinking of PPL(king's college course), PPE and similar courses. Rather PPL because of my maths level. They both are not so strict and taking them won't specialize me too much to go Specialize in any of social/ human sciences

This is an unbelievably expensive way to make people, who aren't you, happy...

A lot of my friends here are planning exactly that (except we're already in here of course) and I think it's a fine idea, but I think you'd have to go to UToronto, UBC (british columbia) or McGill to be well recognized by the US schools. I think the advantage of coming to Canada first is just the fact that eveyrthing will be so similar when you move to the US, like all the food and the lifestyle and stuff are basically the same.
