Guest
So for science IAs, do our teachers mark it or it has to be sent for moderation ? If my teacher gave me a bad grade, could I ask for a remark ? Reply
El :3
Yeah, your teacher marks it, as it's an Internal Assessment. After it has been marked, it gets sent out for moderation to ensure you were given a fair mark. I'm not really sure about remarks, however, sorry! 1 Reply
harihrrnn
Yeah, your teacher will mark it and send it to IB with tthe marks she awarded. And IB will recheck it, the sad part is that there is possibilities of them reducing our marks if they don't like our IA. Reply

kevG
Your teacher marks it. However IB only reviews some of the Assessments from your school. For example, let's just say there is a class of 10 students. Only about 3-4 IAs will go to IB (They choose some high scoring ones, mediocre ones and IA's with low scores). IB will see how the IAs are marked and check to see if the teacher has marked too leniently or too harshly and will reduce/add points accordingly to all the students in the class. This is the reason to why my teachers mark our IAs very harshly, almost making it impossible to attain full points so that we know what our lowest grade could be and then improve on it later, even possibly increasing it: Last year IB boosted the Physics IAs from our school by 2 points. Yes. if they feel your teachers have been too harsh in their corrections of the sample they choose, they may increase marks. EG: Lets say 3 level 4 IAs go, 3 level 5s, 3 level 6s and 3 level 7s. If the IB feel your teachers have been too harsh with the level 5s, they push the grades up. and vice versa. Hope it helpsCheers,King112 1 Reply
