hobbitsarerad
hey guys, it's too late now because my WA is due tomorrow but I realized I'm having a pretty hard time getting rid of passive voice (or sometimes even spotting it). I thought that even though I can't do anything really about my WA, it would be good to learn how to get rid of it for future papers, in all subjects. I don't know. do you guys have any tips for spotting and ridding of passive voice? Reply
by.andrew
Passive sentences usually use a tense of "to be". The subject of the sentence in the passive voice is at the end, or is omitted altogether. Just think of what or who is doing the action, and try to put that in the front. 1 Reply
Schrodinger's CAS
Here's a fun trick that our teacher taught us to check for passive voice. When you are writing a sentence, if you can add "by zombies" after the verb, and the sentence makes sense, then you have passive voice. For example: "Poland was invaded (by zombies)".Active voice of the same phrase would be "Zombies invaded Poland" Reply
