mr_awesome
Hi All,I was just wondering if anyone knew the number of minimum studies required to be put in the introduction of the IA, and whether or not we are allowed to include a study that is opposing the results of the other 2 (if we need 3 for example)?? Or do they all need to be supportive of the IA?Thank you. Reply
a_djoko
Minimum of 2 mate. How long do you want your IA to be? Leave it at a bare minimum. 1 Reply
ameliang
According to the iB Guide, the intro is approximately 600 words. So my teacher divides like this: INTRO First paragraph: (100 words)Define your independent variable.Say how it is related to your dependent variable. Then relate it to your work (like I'm doing this too in my paper). Then 3 studies, each around 150 words. Then, (50 words)Aim:Hypothesis:Null hypothesis: Hope this help. Oh, and don't forget to cite a lot and include the date as well. 1 Reply
mhelof
I can tell you what my teacher told me: for SL 2 is enough, however, for HL you should have three. The way I did it in the introduction is that I used three studies that were done in the same or similar field, but I started with the one least similar to my experiment. Then I went on about the second study, that was more similar and then the last study that was pretty much the basis for my own experiment. I have not yet received an official mark for it, but my teacher gave me a 7 (: 1 Reply
