ibstudent77
I was thinking about using "In all IB Economics textbooks, cigarettes are the primary example of a demerit good." as an opening line in my commentary on increasing taxes on cigarettes, is it fine? If not, suggestions for an opening line will be appreciated. Thanks. 1 Reply
EconDaddy
Hi, It's a great sentence. But perhaps I wouldn't use it as the first one, because it's better to start with a reference to the article itself (not Econ textbooks), perhaps highlighting/summarizing the key message. However, do include it later on. On a side note: have you really checked ALL the IB Econ textbooks? If you haven't, you can simply say "almost all" or "most of." What's the article? All the best, EconDaddyIB Economics tutor and examinerFollow my blog where I post great sources for IB Econ students. Reply
