madcli
At my old school, I took French for five years, and the plan was that I would continue on to IB French. However, I switched schools at the beginning of 10th grade and my new school only offers Spanish and Mandarin. I'm in the process of choosing my courses for next year and I was wondering if it's possible to self-study Language B? I would prefer to do IB French rather than Spanish, probably at an SL level. Thanks! Edited February 18, 2014 by madcli Reply
ctrls
I don't think you can self-study a language B, since part of your overall grade depends on a group oral. I would recommend asking your IB coordinator about it, but I'm fairly certain it isn't allowed in my school. sameera95
Ask, but as ctrls mentioned, you will need a teacher for the oral and for the written assignment. If your school doesn't have a french teacher then I doubt you will be allowed. If you can't, just take Spanish ab initio, I personally find it relatively easy and the tenses aren't that difficult Reply
