sameera95
So long story short, I couldn't do my SATs this year so I'm waiting until next year to apply to the US. The university that I'm really considering is University of Maryland, which when I spoke to them said they wanted around 1400 (I think) in SATs without the writing section. Also, I was informed that I get credits if I get a level 5 or more in my HL subjects. The thing is, the university is so popular that it will be competitive to get in, as they will obviously choose the best students so I don't know what I will be up against. Also, will they consider GCSE grades? Mine were good, but not the best (3 A*s: Biology, Maths, Arabic; 4 As: English Literature, Chemistry, Art, ICT; and 6 Bs: Further Maths, Textiles, German, Physics, English Language and RS)And lastly, what about extra curriculars? do they have to be subject related to what I want to do at university? Thanks Reply
r1111
I think they care a lot about SAT grades and not so much about IB grades. They also have emphasis on extra-circulars. Reply
Forester
They will look at your high school internal exam grades for the last 4 years. Since grading methods in different schools are different, school rank is very important. They will also take your external examination results into account like your GCSEs.
