Ryoika
Hi, everyone I kind of screwed up on my last Biological Level of Analysis 22 point essay, and my percentage mark dropped down from 98 to 97. I'm wondering, is 97 equal to a score of 7 in Psychology? Here's grade conversion list for University of British Columbia IB Grade % Equivalent 7 96 6 90 5 86 4 76 3 70 Do most of universities follow this conversion scale? Or is the grade equivalent of percentage different for other universities? Reply
blindpet
One of the major limitations of the IB marking system is that it is new compared to other established curricula of different countries. Each country has its own way of converting IB marks to compare them to national curriculum marks. So the percentage thing you have may only fit Canada. In the UK they compare IB marks to A-levels (and IB students get screwed in the process). In Denmark they compare the IB scale to the Danish scale and IB students get screwed. It's silly really because when you look at overall mark boundaries a 7 in one subject can be 70% so converting that to 97% Canadian makes little sense but they do it because the IB is harsher (it is harder to get full full marks, i.e. 100%).I hope this made some sense, I wouldn't worry too much about falling a percentage point though . 1 Reply
