Connaitre
Hey guysSo I've recently got a new maths teacher, and she cannot teach to save her life. I've spoken to the school and they have pretty much told me on just get on with it.I was wondering if anybody had an advice on learning the course without the teacher as no other teacher will help me. I don't want to fail as I want to do a natural science degree so a 6 is a must have. Thanks! Reply
ChocolateDrop
I'd make sure you get acquainted with the syllabus and make sure you understand things before moving on. Also, make sure you don't disregard your teacher completely and just research and try pickup techniques she uses. For example if she talks about method ABC for differentiation or whatever, even if you are not comfortable with the method you should go home and learn it.Maths SL syllabus: http://www.education.umd.edu/MathEd/conference/vbook/math.sl.08.pdfSome youtube maths video tutorials:http://www.youtube.com/user/mathsl1http://www.youtube.com/user/ibpodcastingTry and maintain a good relationship with your teacher so that it won't be a problem to get help from them. Do a lot of past papers and get your teacher to mark them. Maths is very much a practice subject.Alternatively if it gets too much and you can afford it, you could get a tutor. However I find looking at University maths makes IB maths seem so much easier in comparison. You could also look at some Maths HL material to make it easier. And if you do actually begin to get the Maths HL or University maths concepts, SL will be so much more easier in comparison.http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/#mathematics Reply
