Starrynight13
IB science students at my school recently got assigned the Group 4 Project, with our topic being popcorn. We have brainstormed this, and the only thing we could come up with was the effect on the enviroment where the corn is grown- but the problem with this is that not much of the corn grown is solely for popping....... so do anyone have any ideas about projects and research we could do on the topic of popcorn? Keep in mind that we have to incorporate biology and chemistry. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks! 2 Reply
aldld
Depending how you approach this it might be more physics (or perhaps chemistry), maybe you could look at something to do with the pressure inside a bag of microwaved popcorn. flinquinnster
Sounds like fun. Apart from pressure caused by the popcorn popping, which is really good for physics, maybe you can investigate something about the oil/butter and ah... flavouring or chemicals used in popping popcorn. You might also want to play around with temperature... As for biology, maybe something about the human consumption of popcorn? Otherwise, the stuff about the impact of growing corn on the environment might be all you can find for biology. Reply
