febreezick
My teacher has brought to my attention that when I talk about art in my workbook that I just talk about subject/theme/content without exploring the technique behind the pieces and the ways the artist enhances meaning through technique.Anyone have any good resources/advice for how to talk about technique? Leezandra Bejan
What my teacher told me is that when having to refer to the techniques of artists, you need to explore these and then talk about it. For example, looking at a simple technique, such as working with the dry brush, I first experimented it when looking at an artist, talked about how successful I was, and then whenever I saw it again when looking at another artist I just referred back to it. Hope this helped a bit Reply
Expired Manwich of Doom
Examiners are also big on experimentation of techniques; they want to see you make mistakes. Take pictures and refer to them about what, why amd how you used certaim techniques. For example, I used mascara to create a portrait, and my general theme is beauty and perfection. The significance of using mascara was to reinforce how women in western society are expected of certain things, such as makeup, in order to be considered beautiful and feminine.
